I just finished a book called the snow spider. It was brilliant. It wasn't quite Harry Potter, and I am not sure my teachers would like it as there was not a very wide range of sentence structure and the grammar was not that good. But still,I really liked the story.
The story started straight away, with Gwyn (main character) being told by his Grandmother that it is time it is discovered if he is a magician (literally first line) and starts to confuse you a bit as it goes on. However, soon you are dying to know the secret of his lost sister Bethan, who seems to have vanished from existence….
This is a really good book, as I said, not quite a Harry Potter, but still 4 stars. It is one of those books which is amazingly exstrodiary (it sounds weird, sort of like a tongue twister), just not really discover yet, like the secret of the sirens. The thief lord used to be in this catograry, but now it has been discovered and made in to a movie, as I hope this one will be soon

I am glad you liked these books, Jenii. I enjoyed hearing about them this morning.
Sometimes grammar is not as important as telling a good story! But don’t tell your teachers I said that!
I am not good with the books that are in the genre as harry potter but that aren’t as good as it. So this book may or may not be a book I would like. So I guess that means I have more looking into to do.
I met the author of this book a long time ago – Jenny Nimmo – is that her? She’s really quiet and seemed to me to be a bit shy. I was at a course trying to learn to be a writer and the woman who ran the course said she wanted the author to come because it was the book her son loved best. This was a long time before Harry Potter.
I liked your review. I shall come back soon.
The Snow spider is an extraordinary book, and Jenny Nimmo is a truly brilliant writer.
Based on my own recommendation, we have just begun reading this wonderful book here at our one-room school as our Intermediate student’s book discussion selection, as it is a book I feel certain that each of our students will benefit enormously from, in a myriad number of ways.
“Bravo!” to Scholastic for making this fine trilogy available to a much wider audience. It is well-worth the risk, and I (for one) feel strongly that these are three books that will easily transcend their already wonderfully-rich Welsh origins.
In the meanwhile, I’ll hope to see many more of Jenny Nimmo’s books become available here in the States, as she is a fine writer who deserves to be far more widely read.
